The Taiwanese phone producer, HTC is launching its first Octa core phone in China. Unlike the recent release of HTC one M8, its release was not publicized much and it will only be available to Chinese consumers.
People of China apparently, take more interest to octacore phones. China is the home for octacore phones and manufactures more than 65 octacore phones itself. The Chinese site MTKSJ first approached the device and exposed some pictures of it. The site also projected a rough idea of price, which is $209.
The device consists of a Mediatek octacore chip, namely MT6592 clocked at 1.7 GHz. The chip encloses 8 low power 32 bit processing cortex A7 cores. This chip is basically designed for low cost, low power, but high performance. Mediatek is not a standardize chip producer like Qualcomm or Nvidia but it’s struggling to compete with them.
The phone measures 142 x 71.9 x 9.1 millimeter and weighs 150 grams. This is a plastic made device with 5 inch HD display packed with 720 pixels, a 8 megapixel rear and a 2 megapixel front facing camera, 1 GB internal RAM which is expandable. The phone will run the Android 4.2.2 jelly bean. Instead of only black and white, HTC has added the charm of colors into the device. It will be available in red, yellow, white, blue and black models.
Octa core means, the all 8 core will work together to perform certain tasks. It is just like when people work in a team for the same purpose, they achieve quick and efficient results compared to a single person. Mostly there is a use of single cores, but in some, cases if you are using a Microsoft excel, the large calculations take time to finish. So the work is distributed between the cores equally to accomplish the task quickly. Similar is with Adobe Photoshop, where each picture is of million pixels and this juggle conversion is lengthy for a single core, hence it takes a lot of time to finish also draining the loads of power and most of the time, results in device hanging or restarts. Large number of cores are beneficial if you use multiple tabs at a time, work with heavy downloads or heavy games.
HTC is offering an overall better package with desire 616. Let’s see how it will hit the Chinese mobile market.
