The Lumia 930 is the successor to the Lumia 925. It is a 5-inch screen, Windows phone, with a focus on being a camera as well, but not as much as the Lumia 1020, which makes it a much more accessible phone. Let us look at all the aspects of the phone and see if it deserves as one of the 2014 smartphone line-up from Nokia.
Design and Screen
The phone has a metal shell with a plastic back plate. It has a smaller bulbous side as compared to the previous model, which is a good thing because in order to fit a 5-inch screen, the body of the phone needs to be trimmed. It weighs in at 167g, which places it amongst the heavy 5-inch phones, but has definitely improved as compared to the Lumia 925, which weighed at 185g (despite having a smaller screen). The screen was where Windows phones lagged behind, the Lumia 930 has a full HD 5 inch AMOLED screen that makes it sharp, colorful, and bright.
Software and Specs
The Lumia 930 will be one of the first phones to launch right out of the box using Windows 8.1. A good thing about Windows is that you do not have to wait much for its updates. Some of the new features with Windows 8.1 include a universal search function within the phone (not only with the internet), a great notification center, and Internet Explorer 11. The phone’s software, screen, and bodywork are all improvements from the Lumia 925, including the specs. The 930 has a Snapdragon 800 Quad-Core chip, which clocks in at 2.2GHz. The 2GB RAM will help the phone run smoothly. It may be a step behind some new Android phones, but its general performance is great and its power usually goes further as compared to other Windows phones.
Camera and Battery
One of the strongest parts of the Lumia 930 is its camera. A 20-megapixel camera covers the back of the phone. This high-resolution camera will give you excellent photo quality and decent quality even at low light. The camera app has basic features that are included with every camera app. If you enjoy smartphones with a powerful camera, then this phone is for you. The battery is a 2420mAh battery, which will surely provide you a great battery life. In normal cases, a full battery should last longer than a day. The camera and battery are two very strong points about the Nokia Lumia 930.
The Lumia 930 will not get the camera geeks as excited as they are over the Lumia 1020, but it is still a successful phone from Nokia. Its attractive metal design, smooth texture, powerful camera, and improved Windows software are something to consider for those who simply do not want to own an Android Phone.
