For users who are much annoyed by the use of bulky and unattractive receivers that have many features hardly used, both the new models come as a relief with the new compact built and back panel which is uncluttered. Particularly NR1504 seems to be closest to the basic “HDMI amplification + switching” that is searched for by quite a lot of buyers, although $400 still looks like the appropriate price.

Missing feature out of both models is the built-in Wi-Fi that makes it convenient to make use of the exciting network features as smartphone control, built-in AirPlay and also firmware updates. Marantz doesn’t provide the Wi-Fi adapter that would make you will have to employ work-around if Ethernet is not in your room. Both the receivers provide built-in streaming by Spotify, Sirius XM or Pandora though generally AV receivers could be quite annoying to be used like media streamers.
